7 Interesting Web Design Trends We’re Loving for 2025

It’s a brand new year and with that comes new web design trends and themes in all sorts of industries, including the design world. While I believe it’s best to stay true to your brand voice and aesthetic, these are fun and unique ways to bring new life into your website whether you’re just updating it or completely overhauling it.

The past couple of years have been the years of clean, simple and minimalist and while I love that look, I’m finding myself loving these trends below and can’t wait to incorporate them into websites this year.

They not only give more visual appeal, but can set your business apart from others in your industry and keep users engaged longer! Let’s dive into some of my favorite web design trends for 2025.

2025 Web Design Trends

1. Micro-Interactions and Animation

For awhile, animations were a no-go because people found them distracting, but as the world changes and we become more used to moving things on our screens, animations and little integrations can make our websites so much more interesting and engaging.

I’ve been seeing this trend steadily grow in the past year. In 2025, expect to see more sophisticated animations that enhance usability without causing distractions. Think small movements, rotating elements, ticker-tap text, image hover intricacies and more.

2. Minimalist Maximalism

While minimalism has long been a staple of web design, 2025 introduces a twist with “minimalist maximalism.” This trend focuses on clean, uncluttered designs but incorporates bold typography, vibrant colors, and striking visuals. The result is a balance between simplicity and boldness, capturing attention without overwhelming the user. Websites like this are still incredibly easy for users to navigate and use, but have bold stand-out text & graphics that draw you in instantly and keep you engaged.

3. Asymmetry and Fluid Layouts

Breaking away from grid-based designs, 2025 will embrace asymmetrical and fluid layouts that feel dynamic and modern. These layouts allow for creative freedom while maintaining functionality, giving websites a unique and personalized feel.

While this can be fun and cool for certain brands, consider your user as well. A more grid-like layout is easy on the eyes and will always be a win in my book. But, a more fluid an asymmetrical layout can be visually interesting

4. Bolder Colors and Unique Color Palettes

Neutrals have ruled the internet for the past couple of years and while your girl LOVES a neutral moment, I’ve been craving more color. In my designs and even in my home and wardrobe.

So, in 2025, expect to see web designs that experiment with bold, vibrant colors and unconventional color combinations. These palettes will be used to evoke emotions, capture attention, and make brands stand out in crowded digital spaces. Gradients, neon hues, and unexpected pairings will play a significant role in creating visually striking designs.

5. Organic and Playful Graphics and Shapes

Graphics, organic shapes, photo-cutouts in unique shapes have been popping up everywhere and I am here for it. They are fun, playful and eye-catching. Web design is really embracing these organic, fluid shapes and graphics to create a sense of movement and creativity. These elements break away from rigid, geometric designs, offering a softer, more approachable aesthetic. Expect to see hand-drawn illustrations, abstract patterns, and irregular layouts that feel fresh and imaginative.

6. Typography Trends for 2025

Fonts in 2025 will be as diverse as ever, have you noticed this yet? There’s a huge emphasis on uniqueness and expressiveness, especially with creative or lifestyle brands.

Serif fonts will make a strong comeback, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to designs—a personal favorite of mine because I find them to be so versatile!

Unique and funky font styles have been on the rise for logos and big bold text treatments on websites to create interest and help brands stand out. Lastly, bold and oversized typography will continue to dominate, making strong visual statements and enhancing readability.

7. Rise in Video Usage

Video has already made a splash with social media platforms moving to nearly all-video content, and I think we’ll be seeing more video in web design this year. It’s a powerful tool for storytelling, brand communication, and user engagement. Unlike the early website videos that were simply embedded from YouTube, videos can seamlessly be added to any page (without the play buttons from YouTube attached).

These can be background videos that set the tone of a website to short, embedded clips that add personality and movement to your website. Designers will focus on optimizing video for fast loading times and integrating it seamlessly into responsive designs to ensure a smooth user experience across devices.

This is going to be a fun year for design and I’m ready to dive into these web design trends!
