This Shopify web design project for Oat What Fun is fun, playful and gives this non-toxic, all-natural children’s brand the perfect vibe.
As we all know, landing on a webpage that draws you in is that first essential step in getting you to scroll further and explore more. Those first few moments are crucial in capturing a visitor’s attention and leaving a lasting impression.

Catherine came to us with her amazing brand, Oat What Fun, a line of all-natural, non-toxic play dough and play sand for kids. The idea for her gluten-free play dough and sand stemmed from her own son’s health issues and her background in education.
She’s created a totally unique product in a market that needs it! So many children’s products are filled with questionable ingredients, fragrances and artificial dyes. Her products remain free of allergens, fragrance and only uses natural dyes that won’t cause any harm or irritation.
I love what Catherine is doing and her passion for natural living and health shines through her website, blog and her Instagram page.
When she came to us, she had a Shopify website that she had put together herself. She wanted to up-level her brand and give a feeling of playfulness, youthfulness and that added feeling of clean, natural living. Here’s what her website looked like before:

Here’s how we brought it all together!
Shopify Web Design Project for Oat What Fun
A Warm and Inviting Color Palette
I started with her logo which I had so much fun making! I fell in love with this unique font and played off the colors of her play dough for the website colors.
She wanted something fun and playful, but also clean and modern. As soon as you land on the Oat What Fun website, you are greeted by a soothing and cheerful color palette. Colorful pops create a whimsical and creative space that invites visitors in and also mimic the colors from her line of all-natural play dough.

The use of gentle greens, blues, pinks, and yellows evokes a sense of childlike wonder and perfectly aligns with the brand’s focus on natural and eco-friendly products. This carefully selected color scheme sets a positive and joyful tone throughout the entire website and we couldn’t be happier with what we landed on.
Thoughtful Imagery and Visual Appeal
We had beautiful imagery to work with on Oat What Fun’s project that did a great job of showcasing their products and capturing the imagination of their visitors. High-quality photographs featuring children happily playing with the play dough and play sand adorn the site, instantly conveying the fun and creativity that awaits those who explore their offerings.
I’ve said this many times before, but high-quality imagery is an absolute game-changer for your website. If you don’t have anything but iPhone photos, it’s time to invest in a photographer, or at the very least some high-quality stock photography. I share my favorite places to get unique and non-cheesy stock photography in this post.
The images are strategically placed, capturing attention without overwhelming the overall design. This blend of captivating visuals and effective placement elevates the user experience and communicates the brand’s core values effortlessly.
Clean and Intuitive Navigation
Navigating the Oat What Fun website is a breeze, thanks to its intuitive layout and user-friendly interface. The main navigation menu is prominently displayed at the top of the page, providing easy access to key sections like product categories, FAQs, and contact information.
The minimalist design approach ensures that visitors can quickly find the information they need without any confusion or distractions. This streamlined navigation enhances the overall user experience and makes the shopping process a breeze.
Engaging Content and Descriptions
Beyond its aesthetically pleasing design, the Oat What Fun website shines with its engaging and informative content. Each product listing provides detailed descriptions of the play dough and play sand, highlighting their natural ingredients, non-toxic properties, and gluten-free nature.

The content is well-structured, making it easy for parents to understand the benefits and features of the products. Additionally, the website incorporates interactive elements, such as customer reviews and testimonials, further building trust and credibility. We all love a good testimonial or review, don’t we?

In addition to amazing descriptions, Catherine writes a blog where she shares more tips for natural living. Blogging is one of the best ways to drive organic traffic to your website, and I love that she’s embracing this marketing tactic.
Responsive Design for Seamless Accessibility
In an era where mobile devices are increasingly used for browsing, a mobile responsive site is no longer optional, it is required! And if visitors don’t have a good mobile experience, it can potentially cost you a sale, or new lead.
Oat What Fun’s website adapts seamlessly to different screen sizes, ensuring a consistent and enjoyable experience for users, whether they’re accessing the site on a desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. The responsive design allows busy parents to browse and make purchases conveniently, regardless of their preferred device.
Mobile responsiveness is important for any website, but especially important for online stores. If it doesn’t work, you won’t make a sale, so having everything function on each device is crucial.
We loved working on this Shopify web design project for Oat What Fun. Working with their founder, Catheine, was a dream as she trusted our expertise. I like to think that this is a shining example of effective design principles that enhance the overall user experience and modernize the brand for their ideal customer. From its inviting color palette to engaging content and intuitive navigation, every element has been thoughtfully crafted to convey the brand’s values and captivate visitors.
By combining aesthetics with functionality, we were able to create a delightfully fun online space that beautifully showcases their all-natural, non-toxic play dough and play sand, while emphasizing their commitment to natural living.
